Where did I leave off??? Two days ago? We did alot of relaxing... Yestday we went on the 007 James Bond tour! We booked with an agency just beside our guest house. We had an ad for a half day tour to the island wtith other activities for 1300 baht. That agency did not support that tour group, but they had a james bong all day tour for 1700 baht and gave that to us for the price of the other tour (1300 baht). We came to find out no one else really got any deals on our tour. So you [View Full Entry]

There is not meter taxis here, the roads are very small. Mostly tuk tuk only. Tuk tuks are fun here and not out to scam as bad as in Bangkok. The night maker here is pretty fun. I was looking at a Roxy t shirt and our of curiousity I asked how much it costs. The lady said 280 baht. I was like thanks and I was going to leave. Then she was asking if I wanted 1 or 2, lol. I said I wasnt sure I even wanted 1. She was like ok for you 1 for 250. I was [View Full Entry]

We went off roading in a Dune Buggy through the jungle yesterday. The mud here is red. I saw the biggest beetle I ever seen in my life on the path, I was too freaked out to get close enough for a picture. It was a pretty bumpy ride and we were pretty dirty by the end of it too. We saw farms and cows on the way out. The tuk tuk ride was a half hour there and a half hour back and it only cost us 300 baht and the tuk tuk driver waited for us. The off raoding [View Full Entry]

We left Bangkok yesterday and took a plane to Chiang Mai. It cost 200 baht each (67 cnd) The flight was about 1 and a half hours. Not bad prices. That was with Thai Air. Apparently there is an air line called low cost air that could fly us there even cheaper, lol. Crazy. We will stick with Thai Air. No taxis here, just tuk tuks and these red wagon things. It was raining yesterday so the night market here was dead for customers, it was really nnoying because stall keepers would try to chase us to look at their stalls [View Full Entry]

95% of Thais are buddist. All Thai buddest you will come across are good people and will not scam you. We have soon learned that if a Thai taxi driver does not have any buddist symbols or shrines in their taxi the probability that they will try to scam you is quiet high. After going to the Thai boxing match we hit the biggest night market because it was right next door. I think I am finally tired of buying things, nothing interested me this time. All transportation closes at midnight here except tuk tuks and taxis. We tried taking a [View Full Entry]

 Asia » Thailand » Bangkok
This morning we had breakfast and walked around for a bit. I stopped at the 7 11 and got a small pack of ham for the cats at the guest house where we are staying, they are so skinny. They meowed at meas they ate the ham. I think they farang *forgieners* feed the cats here a bit. The mom and baby cat sat on my lap and purred for a bit till the girl at the next table got her tuna sandwhich, lol, those little scavangers... We should be going to see the thai boxing tonight, Brent is pretty excited [View Full Entry]

Monday

 Asia » Thailand » Bangkok
We just switched guest houses and moved closer to Khao San Road. We are only about a block away. This guest house has tame cats, a mom,a dad and a baby cat, lol. This new place is a couple hundred baht more, so its about 25 bucks a night, but we have our own shower, a wrap around deck, and our floor is a really nice wood, not to mention the beds are nicer and internet is half the price. There are nice trees in the court yard and a massage and spa upstairs for great prices! We havnt been doing [View Full Entry]

Night at Khao San

 Asia » Thailand » Bangkok
Last night we went back to Khao San Road. It was pretty busy and kind of like a cirus, even though it is a backpackers street and it is filled with bars at night they were selling balloon animals and such. We saw the VW bar vans the books talk about. The van is basically the bar and they set up stools and tables around it. We saw a gas station we walked passed before and it was now a bar too! They had tables and chairs set up all around the gas pumps, lol. They were serving liqour and people [View Full Entry]

JJ Market

 Asia » Thailand » Bangkok
Today we went and checked out the famous weekend market. There is over 1700 stalls. I think we only covered a quarter of the market. It wasnt too bad first thing in the morning, but at the day went on it got too croowded to move. You can buy cool things there, I bought 3 shirts for 50 baht each, about 1.70 cnd each. Not every thing is that cheap. Unlike Canada we are finding guys clothing more expensive than girls clothes here. You can buy real designer stuff at the market, it is more expensive but it is still a [View Full Entry]

2nd day in Bangkok

 Asia » Thailand » Bangkok
Ok, I have lost the entry I am trying to write twice today due to computer error. I am now trying a 3 time after taking a break. Today we found out Paul Oakenfold will be playing in Bangkok on the 16th so we are going to try and go to that. It has been so hot today since it stopped raining at about 8 this morning. We went to the zoo here, it was pretty good. There was elephants, tigers, panthers, turtles, zebras, giraffes, birds, crocs and many different kinds of monkeys, red pandas (looks like a red racoon) and [View Full Entry]
