| 12th August 2007 Michelle | CAT CITY - From: Here Kitty Kitty AKA Heaven - I'm sure it was a hard place for you to visit Carol :) Sounds great, sad about the sharks and stingrays though, proof they don't have a DFO like here in Canada kicking ass. Hugs, M |
| 24th July 2007 Ruth | Diving - From: Under the Blue HI Guys I just read your last blogs on Patti's computer. The fish pictures were beautiful. But I wouldn't like it either if everyone swam away and left me behind. Scary. Received your postcard yesterday. Thankyou for thinking about me. Ruth. |
| 6th July 2007 Anna | - From: No Pain, No Gain I'm so glad you did a hike. I don't know why, but I think it is such a satisfying way to experience the country you are in. That is very cool that you guys made it to the top when most of your team bailed. |
| 18th June 2007 Anna | - From: How To Take A Vacation From Vacation Wow... it sounds very relaxing. Who knew you would need such a long break from your break. |
| 18th June 2007 Carrol | - From: Good Bye Lonly Planet, Hello Vietnam Around Ha Giang we were able to travel by ourselves. There was guide leading a different group when we got the permit who helped us answer some questions for getting the permit. But on the road we were by ourselves. |
| 17th June 2007 JakartaBoy | Great Blog! - From: Good Bye Lonly Planet, Hello Vietnam Very impressed to read about your trip. I did a ride up to Ha Giang along Highway 2, and then around Yin Menh, Dong Van, Meo Vac and Long Phin, before going back down Highway 2. Most of the experienced riders I spoke to before setting off advised me against exactly the route you took, saying that the roads were too difficult to pass - should point out that I had a pillion passenger on a Minsk, which made me a bit more cautious. When you talked about getting a permit to go around the Ha Giang area, did you have to take the guide with you? Or were you able to travel by yourself? |
| 16th June 2007 Marco | Palawan - From: The Scenic Route I hope you guys make it to Palawan and I'll be waiting for your blog... |
| 15th June 2007 Michelle | Quite the religious experience - From: The Scenic Route Well sounds like that bus had all the bases covered in case of an accident! Glad you guys made it safely and chose wisely not to take the ferry. Carol, your hair is sooo long. I don't think I've ever seen it so long it looks great and you are getting skinny - try and find some carbs to chow on over there :) Love you guys and keep safe. Shell |
| 26th May 2007 Judith | - From: The Sky's On Fire! Hi! Your blog's really really nice; the pictures, great!! I live in the Philippines, and your pictures make ME want to explore Siquijor. I've travelled to a lot of islands here but not to Siqiujor... Amazing isn't it--- all you've got to do is point and shoot. Nature puts on a grand show in many islands here. Your pictures help promote my country as a paradise worth discovering too. Thanks for posting them:) On the locals, specially in remote places, some really flock to foreigners like bees to honey, and become so friendly it's intrusive (yes, they do sometimes think fair skin's prettier). Bravo for keeping your cool and still managing to enjoy the awesome falls of Siquijor. |
| 25th May 2007 Carrol | Tan=Ugly - From: Fun At The Waterfalls the Philippines, as with most of asia, having a tan isn't ideal. They're after white skin and all the lotions (including deoderant) has skin whitening agents in them. You always want what you don't have! |
| 25th May 2007 anonymous | Sooooo Inviting ! - From: The Sky's On Fire! Your blog makes me want to leave my office desk and take a flight to the Philippines right now and have the same experience as yours ! |

| 23rd May 2007 Anna | - From: Fun At The Waterfalls Honey you look really thin in that photo. I hope you are eating enough. My brother lost loads of weight when in Asia because he didnt like the food. The waterfall sounds romantic. |

| 16th May 2007 Carrol | - From: Spiritually Enlightened We went together, Jarrod and I. Women are allowed if they have a male companion to go with them. |
| 15th May 2007 Anna | minarets? - From: Spiritually Enlightened Ok, how did you both get up the minarets at the Jama Masjid in Delhi? I've been there twice and it's always the same - only men are allowed to climb the minarets! So sexist and unfair. How did you manage it? |
| 12th May 2007 Marco | Philippines - From: What Island Should We Visit First? Great introduction on the Philippines! Witty and cool...and yes, nice recommendation on the Hershey's Kisses for Chocolate Hills. Funny but true. |

| 15th March 2007 Tahna | - From: 735 Kilometers: A Long Long Way From Home What a great trip you guys are on - I'm thoroughly enjoying the narration. Lots of fun experiences! |
| 8th March 2007 Hollie & Marc | Great Meeting You and Thanks! - From: Catching Fireflies Thanks for all the info. This trips sounds like just what we're looking for when we visit the Mekong. Sapa is wonderful, despite the dense mist covering the city. Be sure to bring warm clothes when you come up... it's freezing! If the visibility sucks there's a GREAT jeep tour you can book (we booked through the Mountain View Hotel which also has huge, great views and balconys). The jeep tour is about 6 hours and drives you below the cloud cover. We hiked through three villages and were the only tourists around. They also weren't trying to sell you anything like in some of the villages on the more popular treks. I would highly recommend it if you get bad weather, like we did. Happy travels! - Hollie & Marc (from the Ha Long Bay tour) |
| 5th March 2007 Owen L | That place rules - From: Ancient Locations I went to Ninh Binh with my girlfriend glynis in 1999. Vietnam had recently opened up for tourism, and unbelievably as far as these pictures are concerned it looks exactly the same. As far as fluffy duvets are concerned they would not have been welcome when we were there. Hot and sweaty! Have a great time, and don't forget to check out the old french colonial town of Hoi Ann for killer hand made clothes, and the amzing marble carving factory town (Name?) at the base of the Marble Mountains. Halong bay is really amazing as well. We did a multi day boat trip/ island stay/hike Enjoy |
