Still here!

 Europe » France » Île-de-France » Paris
Our young heroine!
Our young heroine!
...still kicks leaves to celebrate autumn in any country
Hello again! Just in case you were wondering what happened to your young dashing heroine in Paris, this is her letting you know that she's still here. What can I say about Paris? I don't have any pictures for this post because every week I've had one paper or another to crank out. Things I can tell you guys: Apparently purple is the color of the year according to Paris (it's the only color everyone wears these days and I heard a guy in a store today say that it's the color of the fashion year) as is leather. Too bad [View Full Entry]

Birthday à Paris

after I finished opening my present and chatting with mom, dad, and ry. oh, why is batman taking that picture...?
THANK YOU! to everyone for your great birthday wishes and cards and emails and love! I'd have to say this was a pretty good birthday. I mean, let's think about it...not only did I turn TWENTY(!) but I turned twenty in PARIS. And it was a very wonderful birthday day too, that started the night before with our November birthdays party-dinner, chocolate cake, and presents!, opening my present Stafford/Salocks party-style via webcam (I officially bow to technology for making that possible) with Mom, Dad, and Ryguy at 12:06 am, going for a run in my fancy new running shirt (that keeps [View Full Entry]

There were these huge face sculptures on a bridge we crossed pretty much everyday...and at night they were lit up with purple lights
Here are the rest (well, more) of the pictures I took in Vienna. For the day-by-day stories and more pictures, go read the previous entry! [View Full Entry]

VIENNA!

Europe » Austria » Vienna State » Vienna
Hello all! Here's how this is going to work, seeing as I have over 60 photos from my trip to Vienna, I'm going to have one entry for the descriptions of our travels, and then post another of just pictures. Well, maybe I'll throw in some pictures here too just to spruce it up a bit. And also just because I have a lot of pictures, so why not? ANYWAY. I'm sure you're all wondering how Vienna was. And let's just say it was a great, much needed, vacation in an adorable city. We left here Saturday afternoon and I got [View Full Entry]

Vienna or bust

 Europe » France » Île-de-France » Paris
Hello hello! it is just about 8am in the morning here on the first of November. This past week has been pretty busy, like they all have been. We had a 5 page paper due for our writing class, a trip to a tiny museum on the other side of Paris for art history, and an almost 12 hour day for another class. The twelve hour day, this past thursday, turned out to be amazing. Starting off with normal classes, and then we left the Center to go to the Cinematheque francaise (a huge builing-designed by frank gehry-dedicated to displaying, preserving, [View Full Entry]

A Sunday afternoon

 Europe » France » Île-de-France » Paris
toilet?
toilet?
it's been sitting there for 2 days now.
After a very exciting week, I'm happy to write to all of you on a very relaxed Sunday afternoon. My computer decided this week was as good a time as any to throw a hissy fit and momentarily break down. I was without computer for about 2 days, BUT, solved the problem. And as you can see, I'm back up and running. The solution did however take 2 days of me running around Paris with my computer and external harddrive on my back as I went from small independent computer store to the next, looking for some sort of help. And [View Full Entry]

La Drome

 Europe » France » Rhône-Alpes » Drôme
early saturday morning
early saturday morning
the fog took over...
Greetings to all! I have officially returned from the weekend away, and let me just say, it was definitely away. Two and a half hours on the TGV (Train de Grand Vitesse... literally "very fast train") and a short bus ride and we found ourselves in the Rhone-Alpes region of France, in an area known as La Drome in the southeast. We spent our first night in Valence, a town right next to the Rhone river, only to wake up very early Saturday morning to jump on a bus and drive out to Hauterives, which is a tiny town quite literally [View Full Entry]

quick hello

 Europe » France » Île-de-France » Paris
just to keep everyone up to date, i am off to the Drome this weekend. actually, in about 2 hours. this week has been rather busy (aren't they all?) with a paper on the dialogue between two words from two different french "thinkers" and finally picking a class at the sorbonne (the Femme Fatale in literature) along with the weekly load of classes, homework, french, going out with people, making yummy dinners (stir fry!), and still getting good amounts of sleep. so, alas, there will be no extremely long update this weekend, because i will be down in the south of [View Full Entry]

Rue Boyer
Rue Boyer
my new street!
sorry for the wait of almost a full entire week until you got to hear back from me! let's just say it's been a very long and busy week. i have now officially settled into life here in the 20th on Rue Boyer. My hosts name, just so you shall sit in anticipation no longer, is Aldona. Her daughter's name sounds something like Lila, but it could be spelled differently. you know the french and those silent consonants! (THEY LOVE THEM) We also have, currently living with us (besides yoda), Aldona's friend Jean-Michel. HE is a now -unfortunately- retired tenor saxophone [View Full Entry]

hello people across the atlantic! (or in matteo's case, my side of the atlantic) just to keep you posted, I have now moved to a new, second, place of living. I am now living with a woman (I am not quite sure what her first name is yet, and her last name is a very long polish name that i dont know how to spell yet...) and her 24 year old daughter. ...oh, and their cat. named YODA. it really does have yoda eyes too, when you look right at it. I have to say, in my quick interactions with yoda, [View Full Entry]
