After a not too heavy night on Saturday, it was an early start to go and collect our hire car for the trip to the Blue mountains. Unfortuately it was not as sunny the weather forecast had predicted. We set out on the 250 km round trip in the rain, however it was to clear up later in the day.
Our first stop was at a Shell garage were we went in to aquire some cups to allow us to drink our coke and lemonade that we had brought with us in our cool bag. Several distraction tactics were put in to play as 6 cups from the coffee machine made their way out to the car. I thought we would and should make a speedy get away, after Sarah came out of the shop with some M&M's. Instead, the girls started to fill up the cups with our drinks, a bit like bank robbers counting their haul outside the bank. We then decided to make a discreet departure. This went nearly to plan, except for Claire leaving the bottle of coke and a full cup on the roof. The bottle of course fell off onto the ground. We picked
it up then left. For the record, we would have bought some cups, but there were none for sale.
Shortly after the petrol station, we stopped at Wentworth falls. It was a short walk from the car down to the view point over the falls. The views were lovely, though, without bright sun shine, the Blue mountains don't look very blue.
A short drive from Wentworth falls took us to the 3 sisters and Echo point. Again the views were lovely. By this time we were getting hungry, so we stopped for fish and chips which we ate at picnic tables on the drive to Scenic world. After a quick look around Scenic world, we all agreed that we had seen enough and it was time to head back towards Sydney.
We had wanted to take a trip across the harbour bridge and having the car on Sunday was our chance. We parked and had a walk about, taking lots of pictures of the Bridge and the Opera house. With a thirst for VB and hunger building, we heading back to Bondi.
Dinner on Sunday was Indian in a restaurant called Bombay to
Bondi, in Bondi beach. The food was fantastic, BYO too, so we got a cask of our favourite Yallumba white wine. After pollishing off the dinner, we wanted to call home to say Happy Mother's day to our mums. It was then on to the Beach Road Hotel for a night cap. After 2 beers the staff called last orders so we hit the road.
Top tips for the Blue Mountains
1) Bring some warm clothes as it is alot colder than in City
2) Think about hiring a car and driving it yourselves. Our car hire was $60 for the day for 4 people, tours are $85 each.
Finally, we want to wish a BIG HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to Mum - Olive from Michaelxx and Llanore from Sarahxx
Till next time, M&S out....
